Staff Athletic Trainer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine/ Athletic Training
• Must meet the requirements for an athletic trainer in state per Louisiana statures
• Must keep skills current by participating in continuing education
• Must adhere to practice guidelines set by National Athletic Training Association (NATA)
• 1 – 2 years of athletic training experience

General Duties:

• Care and prevention of athletic injuries for the Parish School Systems, and Private schools, under the supervision of a physician.
• Establish preliminary care plan; complete injury evaluation for appropriate referral.
• Implementation of rehabilitation for injured athletes under the direction of the medical director.
• Maintenance of daily injury records, medical records, and records of recovering athletes as prescribed by a physician.
• Provide student-athletes and coaches with accurate information on injuries, supplements, and drug education when necessary.
• Inventory and order athletic trainer supplies.
• Provide coverage for athletic events.
• Maintain all athletic training equipment and supplies per the OSHA and state blood borne pathogen standards.
• Assist the coach in maintenance of protective equipment.

Reports To: Coordinator
